High Protein Berry Oats

If you've been following me on Instagram, you know my love for a bowl of oats. I find them super comforting, especially during the colder months. However, I find a lot of us do not get anywhere near enough protein just from our oats alone, especially if it's an instant pack (i.e., Quaker, PC, etc.).

One really easy way to add some protein is the obvious, protein powder. I personally love protein powder, but I know many people who do not like the chalky texture it brings. SO...this recipe is for you♡

The protein in this bowl of oats is ~30g (based on the brands I used). The secret superstars...hemp seeds and an egg. Just by adding 3 tablespoons of hemp seeds gives you 10g of protein and an amazing source of healthy fat. Add in your egg, powdered (or regular) nut butter, some fruit and dairy-free milk, you've got the perfect high protein, blood sugar balancing breakfast! These oats will keep you full for a long time, and provide you with the energy you need to make it through your days.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4-1/3 cup oats

  • 3 tbsp hemp seeds

  • 2 tbsp sugar-free powdered peanut butter

  • 1/2 cup dairy-free milk

  • 1/3 cup frozen berries (super low sugar index)

  • 1 egg

  • Half sliced banana and chia seeds for topping (optional)

Directions:

  1. Cook all ingredients (except banana and chia) together on the stove on low-medium heat for around 5-7 minutes, stirring constantly (this is key or your oats will be glued to the bottom of your pot).

  2. Transfer to a bowl, and add on your toppings.
